Join us on December 4, 2017 at 7 PM at Saint Patrick Catholic Church for the second in the series of Social Justice Discernment meetings. We have the results of our brainstorming session and are looking forward to discussing our next steps.

Making a Difference

Many attended the first Social Justice Discernment meeting last month on on November 6. The group started an open dialogue to discern how Saint Patrick Catholic Church & School can make a difference in our community and beyond. This was not a political forum. It was an informal brainstorming session to begin the process of narrowing down the issues to tackle over the next few years. We can’t do everything, but we can play our part.

Sharing Resources

Nick Leider, Director of Homeless Adult Services for Catholic Community Services will share information on existing resources for the homelessnd ideas on how Saint Patrick Catholic Church & School might become more responsive to those living on the streets.

Responding to Needs

All are welcome to join us as we continue the conversation and work toward defining our response to the many needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world.
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good.
Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.Teresa of Ávila

Getting Started

Our Scriptures and our Catholic Social Teaching remind us of our call to care for all of God’s creation. But everyday we see stories about the homeless, the hungry, the victimized and we know we must do something but we don’t know what to do. The needs seem immeasurable and we ask ourselves if we can really make a difference. What are the issues? What are the needs? What can I do?

Join us on December 4, 2017 at 7 P.M. in the Parish Center at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 1001 North J Street, Tacoma to continue the conversation. RSVP today.
