Members of the Funeral Reception ministry assist in the planning of and serving at funeral receptions for families of the Saint Patrick Catholic Church community. Members of the ministry are kind and caring— speaking with bereaved families on the phone regarding plans for a funeral reception.  Volunteer hours on the day of the funeral are generally 10:00 A. M. – 2:00 P.M.

Serving with Care

With a kind heart, the members of the ministry see to the details of the funeral reception. Volunteers prepare the Church Hall for families to gather in fellowship; to share, reminisce and remember the life of their loved one.

Attention to Details For the Families

Volunteers set tables with linens and flowers before the funeral. They also prepare the buffet tables for food, dessert and beverages. As the food provided by the family is received, it is placed in suitable serving pieces.

After the funeral the team of volunteers work together to place the food on the tables, and serve coffee and tea for the reception. After the funeral reception, the volunteers package the remaining food for the family to take home, tidy up the kitchen and lock the Church Hall before going home and reflecting on the pastoral care they provided a family during a difficult time when care and compassion is most needed.
