The whole idea of compassion is based on a keen awareness of the interdependence of all these living beings, which are all part of one another, and all involved in one another.Thomas Merton

What is Pastoral Care?

Pastoral Care is visiting, counseling or otherwise helping people in our parish community who are experiencing a difficult time with a focus on healing, reconciling, guiding and sustaining. This includes counseling and prayer. It also includes assisting families with funeral planning and  reception needs. Pastoral Care is provided in a number of ways— through visitations with a priest, though it can be the pastoral coordinator or pastoral assistants especially in parishes without a pastor. Most often it is fellow parishioners— like you—who serve as volunteers in pastoral care ministries.

What are Pastoral Care Ministries?

Pastoral Care Ministries include Stephen Ministry, Funeral Reception Ministry, Prayer Line Ministry and more.

Your Gifts are Essential

Finding a ministry within which to serve is easy because there are many options to choose from. There is one that is best suited for you— one that matches the gifts and talents that God graced you with with the needs of the ministry.

We Are a Community of Communities

The Great Commission created the infrastructure for basic ministerial functions within the Church. Our Parish is a community of communities. Every person’s faith journey is different, and every person’s interests and talents will lead them to different places. And yet, we are all of the Body of Christ.
