In response to the Trump administration’s September 5, 2017 announcement of the rescinding of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, Seattle Archbishop J. Peter Sartain, along with Auxiliary Bishops Eusebio Elizondo and Daniel Mueggenborg, released the following statement standing in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who have been impacted by this decision.

Do you need to consult with an immigration attorney?

  • Talk to Immigration attorneys about your options.
  • Fill out forms needed to protect your family: power of attorney, temporary guardianship
  • Bring any immigration and court documents, if you have them.

Do you need to apply for your DACA renewal? Do you have questions regarding DACA?

  • Get help in filling out your DACA Renewal application
  • Apply for financial assistance from the Mexican Consulate – they will be there to help with the $495 application fee for those who are eligible.
  • Learn about other financial options

Do you need to plan for your family’s safety?

  • Learn about what to do if Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents stop you or come to your door.
  • Take steps to protect your children and family.
  • Learn about your rights as an immigrant, regardless of your legal status.

Do you need information on how to handle school and workplace after DACA?

  • Get advice on how to talk with your employer.
  • Get information on how to apply for WAFSA.
  • Learn about the latest updates on Federal legislation regarding DACA.

To renew, you need to bring the following:

  • Copy of work permit or copy of I-765 approval notice
  • Previously filed DACA application
  • $495 money order for filing fee (go to seattle.gov/DACA for scholarship options)
  • 2 passport pictures
  • 2 photo ids
  • Social security number
