There are many opportunities to volunteer at school and we want to make it as easy as possible for our school families to do so. To volunteer here at Saint Patrick Catholic School the following must be completed:
1. Background Checks
Volunteers with unsupervised, ongoing access to minors and vulnerable adults are required to complete a background check every three years. Screening is also required from any volunteer with access to cash, checks or other negotiables; any volunteer driving in the course of their service; and any volunteer who is not related to a student in a Catholic school.
All volunteers are required to read and sign the Policy for the Prevention of and Response to Sexual Abuse, Code of Professional Conduct, and Reporting Suspected Abuse of Minors and Vulnerable Adults.
3. Safe Environment Training
Volunteers with unsupervised, ongoing access to minors and vulnerable adults are required to complete the Protecting God’s Children course within 90 days of beginning service . Current volunteers are required to take updated online training courses every three years.
To attend the Protecting God’s Children class for new volunteers, you must log-on to VirtusOnline.org to register and establish an account with the Archdiocese and follow the steps to becoming compliant with all Safe Environment requirements.
All current employees and volunteers who have already completed the Safe Environment requirements will be automatically transferred into the new database. VIRTUS sent log-on information to every current participant in August. Those who have already attended a Called to Protect for Ministries class will not be required to take the VIRTUS foundation class, Protecting God’s Children. These individuals will be notified by VIRTUS when it is time to renew their background check and/or take an online refresher course, which is now required every three years.
