Shirts Across America

Eleven Saint Patrick Catholic School alumni spent their spring break in service to others with Shirts Across America.  They were part of a team of students, teachers, and parents from Bellarmine Preparatory School and Olympia High School who volunteered in New Orleans in the continued effort to rebuild and repair homes affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Shirts Across America which was founded after Hurricane Katrina hit, sends students from schools affiliated with the program to New Orleans for a week during various times of the year. Shirts Across America provides high school students an opportunity to become leaders as they volunteer building homes in New Orleans.

Since January 2007

  • Shirts Across America has fully funded the rebuilding of 15 homes in New Orleans (NOLA) and Mississippi through donations and time worked by volunteers.
  • Volunteers have worked on 140+ homes/projects in the Gulf Coast region.
  • Shirts Across America has sent over 2,000 volunteers to NOLA and Mississippi.
  • SAA has donated well over 60,000 volunteer hours in New Orleans.

The Saint Patrick Catholic School alumni who served this year are Jackson Davis, Katie Dolan, Jack Martin, Jerod Mowers, Kellie Hall, Allie Smith, Riley Eyring, Dan Hicks, Julia Maher, Megan Adams, and Stevie Bono.  We are proud of their efforts and hope they serve as an inspiration for our students.
