A Time of Preparation
At Saint Patrick Catholic School, 5th grade students:
- Reach mastery in basic academic skills while determining context and applications
- Gain tools and strategies to prepare for the rigor of middle and high school
- Develop confidence and a better understanding of their own individual and unique strengths
5th grade students discern the motives behind historical events in our country’s history, seek the essence of scientific inquiry, and develop a broad repertoire of computational abilities in math from statistics to geometry.
In literacy, fifth graders develop greater comprehension skills and a stronger ability to make plausible inferences. These skills influence their ability to express themselves more fully in written communication.
The religious focus of our 5th grade year is a deeper understanding of the Sacraments as continuing signs of God’s work in our daily lives.
Specialist Classes & Enrichment Activities
Students have numerous enrichment activities throughout the year to strengthen social ties and relationship-building among peers. Through programs such as 5th Grade Camp, Junior Achievement, CYO sports, and extracurricular coursework, 5th grade students have rich opportunities to beyond the traditional curriculum.
Specialist classes include art, music, physical education, and band.
As fifth grade educators, our roles are to support the whole child in discovering the gifted, spiritual person that God has called him or her to be.
