Celebrating the Rite of Christian Initiation - Saint Patrick Catholic Church
Open/Close Menu A Legacy of Faith and Learning

RCIA Elect and Candidates receiving the Sacraments of Initiation The waiting is over! Those among us who have been preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation are now going to enter into the Sacramental life of the Church on Saturday, June 27, 2020. They faithfully prepared by attending class throughout this whole year in addition to worshiping together at Mass.

The group celebrated the Rite of Election at St. Charles Borromeo Church on March 7, 2020, right before the Governor issued the Stay Home, Stay Healthy order for the state due to the growing COVID-19 pandemic. So, we pivoted. Instead of the Scrutinies, the Chrism Mass, Holy Week services, and being received into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil, the group patiently waited, building up the Domestic Church. Attending Mass via Livestream and participated in Zoom classes on Sunday became the new routine. Weekly check-ins became an important place to share experiences and dive deeper into the Sunday readings and the meaning of the Feast Days.

Special thanks and congratulations to Morningstar Stevenson, Seattle University Intern, and now graduate, who led the group this year. Morningstar recently earned her Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies. The wisdom and insight she brought to the process this year was a true gift. We wish Morningstar well in her position as Pastoral Associate for Outreach and Marriage at All Saints Church in Puyallup.
