St. Patrick
School Visual Arts Program Overview
Patty Davidson, Art Specialist
pdavidson@saintpats.org
Art is taught to all St.
Pat’s students from All-day Montessori through 8th grade. Our
students explore the visual arts through drawing, painting, design, sculpture,
printmaking and ceramics, including the use of our potters’ wheels. We study
the history of art and cultural connections within the context of many of our
projects.
Collaboration with other
teachers at St. Pat's is encouraged and Art projects are often
integrated with grade level classroom curriculum.
• All-day Montessori &
Kindergarten have art once a week for 30 minutes.
• Grade 1 has art once a
week for 40 minutes.
• Grades 2 - 6 have art once
a week for 50 minutes.
• Grades 7 & 8 have art
every day for 45 or 50 minutes.
This is an elective class. Enrollment changes every trimester to allow all
students the opportunity to take art. Course work changes each trimester so
that repeating students do not have duplicated assignments.
Goals for
all grade levels

problems with insight, reason and technical skill through the study and use of
the Elements & Principles of art.
- Develop the ability to
understand, critique and evaluate works in the visual arts.

happy in the art room so that the above goals can be accomplished.
