Eighth Grade Language Arts

 

Answer the following questions in regard to your entire body of work in this class.  Be sure to use complete sentences, explain your answers and RE-STATE the question when appropriate Type your work in a separate document.  Be sure to put your heading on your paper.  Do not use the same assignment to critique more than once in this assignment. 

 

1.  Comment on the progress of your work from last year to this year.  (Has it improved, stayed the same, declined?  Explain your answer!!)

 

2.  What single, non-homework assignment are you most proud of?  (Long term projects, essays, art projects, etc.)  Give the expectations of the assignment and describe how you completed it.  What makes it the piece of work that you are most proud of?

 

3.  What piece of work could you have done a better, more quality, job of completing?  Again, explain the expectations and why it needed improvement.

 

4. Which improvements have you made based on feedback given on other assignments?  Use a specific assignment as an example.  Give the name and date of the assignment.

 

5.  Does your current grade in this class accurately reflect what you are capable of in this subject area?  Give a thorough explanation (with evidence) for your answer.  What grade do you think you deserve?

 

6.  Which assignment or type of assignment did you struggle with the most in this class?

 

7.  What language arts skill do you excel in?

 

8.  What single piece of advice would you give to future eighth graders in regards to succeeding in this class?

 

9.  In terms of neatness and professional appearance, on average, rate your work on a scale of 1-10; 1 being sloppy, barely legible and presentable, to 10, being absolutely professional caliber, gleaming with pride. 

 

What is the value in turning in work that has an average score of 10 based on the score above?

 

10.  Interview a parent or guardian using the following questions:

           

            What progress have you made that is most noticeable?

            What work have you done that they are most proud of?

            What skill do they think you could improve on?

            What is their goal for you in terms of success in language arts in the future?

 

Write up the interview in a paragraph that includes an introduction and conclusion, and then have them sign your work and date it.
