May
May is in the air! This month we will focus
on wrapping up our studies in English. In seventh grade we'll
read our first play and start our last novel Of Mice and Men by
John Steinbeck. We'll also work on completing our final essay of
the year. Eighth grade will read the play based on the story of
Anne Frank and do some essay work as well with a final essay based on
family heritage. As always, we work daily on grammar and
creative writing. Finally, the last book report with Reader's
Log will be assigned and due at the end of May.
May 5th - 9th
Seventh Grade: We'll be reading part
two of "Brian's Song," in-class this week, with presentations of
selected scenes later in the week. Book report guidelines were
passed out this week and can be found under the "Documents" tab.
In addition, we'll work on constructing a final essay based on one of
the themes from "Brian's Song." See some of the work we'll be
doing with paragraphs under Documents.
Eighth Grade: We'll start the week by
taking the Animal Farm unit exam and watch the DVD Tuesday -
Thursday. Friday will be an in-class reading day for the book
report - you can find guidelines for this under the "Documents"
tab.
Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions or concerns.
Blessings,
Mrs. Castellano
