May 2008
Dear
4W Families,
WASL is over!!! Hip, hip, hooray! What a relief it is to
the students to have that behind them. May will be busy with
several end of the year activities. Our 4th Grade Retreat will
be held at the church on May 9th. We will be going to the Nature
Center on May 21st. We have a 4-day weekend over Memorial Day,
then Field day on the 30th. Nonetheless, we are charging ahead
with decimals and fractions in math. We will also
finishing our Physics of Sound science unit and beginning our Water
unit in preparation for the Nature Center.
As many of you are aware, I will be moving to fifth grade in the fall
and will also be completing my administrative internship with Mrs.
Jordan. Washington State requires 720 hours of internship experience
prior to earning administrative certification. Fortunately, I have
already begun working toward these hours and will complete many, many
hours over the summer. Nonetheless, my internship will require that I
am out of the classroom, while in the building, twenty days of the
2008 - 2009 school year. These days will be spread throughout the
entire school year.
In planning for my absences, Mrs. Jordan and I are utilizing short
weeks and half days when feasible so that students are impacted as
little as possible. We have also used conference days, Grandparents
Day, and Field Day. Also important, please know I plan have one
consistent substitute for whom I will plan the lessons again in hopes
of minimizing the impact on the children’s academic growth as they are
my priority.
Miss Cindy and I have begun shuffling the students in order to best
balance the two fifth grade classes for next year. Please know that
my main concern will always be my students, whoever they may be. I
have already begun planning next year’s curriculum and am looking
forward to teaching your bright and cheerful students again next year.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to email
myself at
swright@saintpats.org,
or Mrs.
Jordan
at
fjordan@saintpats.org.
It will be a busy year for me, but I am up to the challenges that will
surely come.
Peace be
with you,,
Stephanie Wright
